Yesterday evening, after returning from the opening of the new British Journal of Photography, I had the nice surprise of finding an automatic update waiting for me: Aperture 3.0.1. Yesterday I was really concerned about the lack of information about the issues I had in these weeks, and I was seriously considering installing LightRoom 3. I was very tempted. Luckily the update arrived and at a first glance, it solves the many issues that have haunted me.
I had some time to test it and I have to admit that it is much more stable and fast, the continuous swapping between disk and RAM seems to have stopped, even if the application crashed twice in half an hour I had to play with it. I don't think that the application is perfect, but works well and allow photographer to edit the images in a great way and even export them (!).
Tonight I have a batch of photos that needed to be edited, I had postponed the work hoping for this release, and I will be able to test the application a little bit more.

One of the things that has not been washed away is the delusion that Apple is badly using the trust their customers are placing on them. The customer support remains one of the worst I have had the pleasure (!) to deal with lately. Moreover a great launch as the one of Aperture 3 could have been much better if only they would have expanded the number of beta testers involved.
These are not hard things to implement in a company like Apple and it is the fact that they are not doing anything to address this, similar issues have already happened in the past, is casting a shadow on the quality the company is providing in the post-sale experience.
I will support the quality products Apple will release, but I cannot consider myself an "Apple FanBoy" I maybe was.
It seems to me that "1984 is EXACTLY like 1984"
