Do Something Good

You are who you want to be. Your action and your words, written or spoken, define who you are and who you are perceived to be. False Gods One of the things I have learned of the fashion market, the hard way as usual, is that being selfish and full of oneself is easy. Having few great images make of some photographers the new Richard Avedon and being young and beautiful make of some model the new goddess on earth. I am not (yet) a great photographer, but one thing I know: I will never look to other photographers as they were inferiors. My actions define who I am and my words do it and I am proud of being myself.

Gina Jones has always been a model of professionalism: Even in the hardest situations she was friendly and down to earth

Price Labels on Dreams Few months ago I contacted a photographer, asking for some directions, for a sort of mentoring in the fashion world: I was proposed a bill of £1,000.00 for two days of mentoring. Thank you very much. This is not the idea of "mentor" I have. I am aware that in this world money pay the bills and everyone need to make a living out of something, but it seems to me that the people that do good actions are a minority: I have met a few on my path and I am absolutely grateful to them. Do Something Good Sometimes life will let you be the "pack leader", the one with more experience, the one with the vision or the ability to lead. When you will live that moment, may it last a minute or a year, you have always the possibility to take some time to do something good, pass what you have learned, show someone how to avoid the pitfalls you have met in your path.

"People will help you, they will be good to you, from time to time you should pass the courtesy on

Am I Doing Something Good? The other evening I received an email from a young girl whose dream is to be a photographer, and who has been courageous enough to write to me, telling me something about her and asking for help. She is still underaged, so I would have had the perfect excuse had I wanted to say no. I replied back, answering to her questions, asking her few more and drawing a line to enclose the rules (parent approval, type of work, etcetera) but I told her that if she had wanted she could have helped us next time we would have had a session and I would have spent some time to teach her what I know, at least as much as I can. Oh yes, and I did not ask to be paid, the idea did not even come to my mind. I am not Richard Avedon, photography do not even pays my bills, I still have an alter ego of a technical geek, but maybe there is something I can teach her, maybe the experiences I have accumulated in these years will save her some time in the path to reach her dream. And I will be happy! Model: Gina Jones Make Up: Naila

I indeed think you are a great photographer, I love your work and enjoy your comments on my flickr photos. Having said that…

I’m an amateur, I love to keep learning how to make my photos better and more personals, but I think teaching someone helps you became better. I have a mini photography club, and even we don’t have there a “Pro”, been a mentor of some of my friends is a fun way to learn.

    Hi Jose,

    Your words are really kind.

If for “Pro” you mean someone who makes his or her living out of photography, then I cannot say I am one, but if it is what’s in your heart…

Thanks for you comment, really appreciated

You did that with me as well.
    Both, Fabiana and yourself.
I will never be able to thank you enough.
Giving is so much more rewarding than receiving.
You will be rewarded a lot.

Caterina, as I told you it is an absolute pleasure to foster people’s dream and I have also told you that you have always been brilliant.
